Supports for Educators
- Your school's Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) - Don't expect that everyone in this role has a deep understating of gifted education, they may be new to the role and/or have limited training in this
- Other educators within your school, centre or community of practice with specialist knowledge of giftedness
- Educators or professional specialists with knowledge specific to a subject or field of work who may recognise exceptional abilities and potential
- Educators or respected members of the community or have understanding and insights into cultures which are minorities within the school
- Gifted Aotearoa - A national Network of Expertise established to improve the quality of education offered to young gifted New Zealanders. Gifted Aotearoa is funded by the Ministry of Education, providing support through sharing professional expertise, growing local networks, nurturing local leadership and developing professional pathways. It is FREE for principals, management, teachers, GaTE Co-ordinators and SENCOs in NEw Zealand Primary and Secondary schools to access the network and its services.

- New Zealand Centre for Gifted Education - Provides day programmes for gifted learners (Small Poppies for preschoolers - 6 yrs of age, MindPlus and Gifted Online for those 6yrs old to end of year 8), Professional Development for educators, and where possible, support for families
- REACH Education - Access to practical teacher manuals, workshops and the Certificate Practice in Gifted Education (distance learning)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Gifted Education (gifted and talented) - offered through Massey University (distance learning)

- Psychologist's specialising in giftedness and talent (List available on the New Zealand Association for Gifted Children's (NZAGC) website). While many psychologists are able to administer assessments relating to cognition and IQ, only a handful of psychologists and educational psychologists have training in the specialist field of gifted education and as such are able to gather the appropriate information and assess it effectively with this strengths-based lens.
