This is a new section. Presently it includes links to New Zealand checklists to support teacher observations. Over time additional resources will be added to this site to support the process of gathering information from learners, their families, peers, specialists and significant others such as kaumatua, mentors and coaches, in order to develop a holistic view of the learner's abilities, qualities and learning needs.This is a collection of tools useful in running a consultation evening. These include a slideshow outlining the literature around Pasifika conceptions of giftedness and talent, both qualitative and quantitative questions based on the research findings shared through the literature, and a hand-out for parents/carers/whanau on how to support gifted learners at home.
A Case Study of the Talent Development Journey of New Zealand Samoan Tenors, Pene and Amitai Pati.
A collection of journal articles, documents and books pertinent to understanding and supporting gifted New Zealand children in the early years, spanning from infancy to about eight years of age.
Often periods of transition are times when increased support is required by gifted learners. In the educational setting transitioning may involve adjustment from home and an early childhood education or school environment, preschool to school settings. It may comprise of acclimatising to various activities, teachers or learning environments during a regular school day, moving between a regular school programme and a withdrawal programme or progressing to new year level and as such a different class and possibly a new school. This section hosts an expanding selection of videos and literature relevant to supporting the transition of gifted learners. While written in relation to early childhood, this critical examination of e-portfolios is relevant to all levels of the education. Within this exploration is discussion of e-portfolios as a means of assessment, a way to celebrate learners, and a means of further strengthening home-school partnerships. Both strengths and limitations of this tool are highlighted.This is a collection of surveys useful in the process of evaluating programme effectiveness to ensure the on-going improvement of provisions. Presently included are forms for student feedback, parents/carers/whanau feedback and mentor feedback.
